I’d like to share my billiard story with you. Back in 1997 I was a student studying design in college, both me and my friend got into college on the same year and both wanted to study design. College was a great experience, I had met a lot of interesting people and made new friends, I was enjoying this whole new life that suddenly opened up to me.
Once in a hallway I saw a really handsome young man, he was tall and had a blonde hair. He was walking along with another guy and they were very busy talking to each other paying no attention to people around them. That very moment something had changed in me. I guess I fell in love with him. All I knew about him was his name – Dave. All of a sudden I noticed that I was running into him all the time. I would go to the cafeteria and he would be there. I would go into a computer lab, and sure enough I would see him there too. It was like some invisible force that was guiding me through the campus that made sure I would constantly run into him. It probably looked funny at that time, but I would constantly bump into him around the campus. After a while people would notice this coincidences, and even my best friend told me that I am in love with this guy. I was trying to get him to notice me, but it was like he did not even see me.
I had found out that he was not interested in girls at campus and prefer to spend his time down at a pool hall. Then I had an idea, I practically forced my friend to go to another pool hall with me; I wanted to learn how to play pool. It took a while, I was in the pool hall few times a week, but after several months, I started to get good at the game. I learned to control my cue ball; I even learned few trick shots too, just to add to my arsenal.
After several month of practice, my friend and me went into a pool hall where Dave was spending all of his time. I noticed him right away, he was with couple of guys and they were playing 9 ball. I was patiently waiting until he was alone at the table. I came up to him and told him that I want to play him. At first, he did not take me seriously, but as we started to play I won the first game. During that first game, I felt like something was helping me, guiding me, making sure that all of my shots went in. After I won, Dave was amazed. We spend that evening playing pool and talking. He walked me home after.
11 years passed since that day, we both graduated college, we have two wonderful children who look just like their father that was more interested in billiard then me back in our college years. Billiard changed my life by helping me find my true love, my Dave.
